Jason Rutyna, PEEnvironmental Engineer

Jason Rutyna, PE, is an Environmental Engineer with over 16 years of professional experience in the field of civil and environmental engineering. Jason provides our clients with scientific and engineering analyses to help them make informed decisions to address environmental and water resource challenges. His expertise includes hydrodynamic and sediment transport modeling, open channel hydraulics, surface water quality modeling, and water resource systems analysis. In his work, Jason develops and applies hydrodynamic/hydraulic models, hydraulic transient/pneumatic models, water quality models, and mixing zone models.

Jason has contributed to numerous combined sewer overflow (CSO) tunnel projects and applied LimnoTech’s SHAFT model to evaluate surges, transients, and pneumatic effects in large storage tunnel systems. He also uses the open-source computational fluid dynamic (CFD) software program, OpenFOAM, to evaluate urban street flooding issues related to a CSO tunnel. In addition to his modeling work, Jason is an expert in developing client-deliverable databases with various data types such as water quality, biological, habitat, continuous monitoring, meteorological, and point source data. Jason also supports Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) modeling and analysis, water quality data analysis, and three-dimensional geostatistical interpolations.

Jason is a licensed professional engineer with a BS and MS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Wayne State University, focusing on water resources and environmental engineering.

Jason works at LimnoTech’s Corporate Headquarters in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
